South Wilmington

Street Center

This 2001 adaptive re-use project converted the Montgomery Green Building into a Wake County Homeless Shelter. The program, which includes both emergency shelter and longer term support services, was designed in partnership with Wake County and local non-profit agencies. The facility accommodates 300 clients, including a kitchen which serves up to 600 clients per day. Services are provided in a progressive fashion, with the ultimate goal of homeless individuals building skills and transitioning into employment and self-sufficiency.
